The Problem With Kids Parties
Soft play. Trampolining. Bowling. Laser tag. You've done them all. The kids are bored of them. You're bored of them. And the party for a 12-year-old shouldn't look the same as the one you threw when they were 5.
The brief is simple: something they haven't done, something that keeps them entertained for 2 hours, and something where you don't have to supervise every second.
What a Kids Party at 1IRON Looks Like
They get their own bay. TrackMan games on the screen — not golf lessons. Cannon bowling, junkyard smashing, neon crazy golf, magic ponds with dragons. No one needs to know how to play golf. They pick up a club, swing at the screen, and the game does the rest.
What's included (£25 per person):
- 2 hours of bay time
- Half pizza and a cordial per child
- Dedicated host
- Minimum 8 kids
That's it. No upselling. No "premium packages." Pizza, games, and 2 hours of entertainment.
Ages 6–16
The TrackMan games work for the full range. A 7-year-old can smash cannonballs at bowling pins just as well as a 15-year-old (sometimes better — they don't overthink the swing).
For younger kids (under 12), an adult needs to be present. For the older ones, you can sit at the bar with a coffee and let them get on with it. That's the real sell.
What Parents Actually Care About
"Is it safe?" — Enclosed bays. No balls flying anywhere they shouldn't. Staff on hand throughout.
"Will it keep them entertained for 2 hours?" — Yes. Between the games, the competition, and the pizza break, 2 hours flies. Most groups don't want to leave.
"What do I have to organise?" — Nothing. You book. You bring the kids. We handle everything else. Food, drinks, setup, host, cleanup.
"What about the kids who don't like sport?" — The games aren't sport. They're arcade games played with a golf club. Scrapyard is literally smashing cars in a junkyard. Magic Pond is catching dragons. No golf knowledge required.
How It Compares
| Soft Play | Bowling | 1IRON | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Age range | Maxes out at 8 | Any age | 6–16 |
| Entertainment length | They're done in 45 mins | 1 game = 30 mins | 2 full hours |
| Food | Questionable | Overpriced | Pizza + drink included |
| Something new? | They've been 50 times | Same as last year | First time for most |
| Parent stress | High | Medium | Low |
| Price per head | £10–15 | £8–12 + food | £25 all-in |
Yes, it costs more per head. But it's 2 hours, food's included, and you're not chasing toddlers around a foam pit.
