What Is Indoor Golf?
You hit a real golf ball into a screen. A launch monitor called TrackMan tracks everything — ball speed, spin, direction, carry distance — and shows you exactly where the ball would land on a virtual course. St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Augusta. Full 18 holes, rendered in real time.
TrackMan is the same technology used on the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour, and by every serious coach in the world. At 1IRON, it runs on all 9 bays. Every shot gives you tour-level data, whether you've been playing 20 years or 20 minutes.
Do I Need to Be Good at Golf?
No. That's the whole point.
The simulators work for complete beginners and scratch golfers alike. If you've never held a club, you'll be hitting shots within 5 minutes. The games are designed for everyone — cannon bowling, neon crazy golf, junkyard smashing. None of them require a handicap.
Most people who come to 1IRON for the first time have never played golf. They come for a night out, a birthday, a date. They leave wanting to come back. The ones who do play golf come because the tech is better than any driving range in the region.
What Does It Cost?
Bay hire starts from £35 per hour for up to 8 people. Split that between a group and you're looking at under £5 each. Cheaper than bowling. Cheaper than cinema. And you get a full bar, food, and 200+ courses to play.
Bay Rates:
- Peak (evenings + weekends): £45/hr
- Off-peak (Mon–Thu 09:30–15:30): £35/hr
- Solo play: £25/hr (book 24 hours in advance)
Social Nights: Every Monday and Sunday, 7:30–10:30pm. £20 per person for 3 hours. No need to book a full bay — just turn up.
Membership: £9.95/month gets you peak bays at £35, off-peak at £27.50, solo at £20, plus a free Map Your Bag session (worth £45) on sign-up. Two peak sessions and the membership has paid for itself.
What Should I Wear?
Comfortable clothes. Trainers are fine. No golf shoes needed, no polo shirts required, no dress code. Wear something you can swing in. That's it.
What Else Is There Besides Golf?
1IRON isn't just a simulator venue. There's a fully licensed sports bar, pizza, 2 tournament pool tables, shuffleboard, interactive darts, and live sport on big screens. You don't need to pick up a club to have a good time.
Social nights run twice a week. The bar is open every session. Groups can mix golf with pool and darts in the same evening. It's a night out that happens to have golf in it.
What About Coaching?
The Bunker is 1IRON's dedicated coaching bay. It has Swing Catalyst dual motion force plates, the Zen Swing Stage (a moving floor that simulates uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies), the Zen Green Stage (a putting surface with variable break), and TrackMan IO. Five coaches — including a former Ladies European Tour professional — run sessions from it.
If you're serious about your game, this is the most advanced coaching setup in the region. If you're not sure, a Map Your Bag session (£45, free for members) gives you TrackMan data on every club in your bag so you know your actual distances.
